Scalby Mills Road, Scarborough, YO12 6RP.

We found Scarborough Beach (North Bay) to be a smooth sandy beach. There was the odd pebble and shell around to hunt for and the beach was a long length. Near to the end where the Sea Life Centre was, there are rock pools, however when the weather is bad, the water level is a bit too high to comfortably walk through, especially with two small children.

To access the beach there was both stairs and a ramp. The main stretch next to the beach was a hard surface and was easy to push our pushchair on.

At Scarborough Beach (North Bay), there was no litter around.

There is plenty of parking available in a hard surface pay and display carpark next to the North Bay beach. The Scalby Mills Car Park, includes disabled spaces and coach spaces, but there were no child spaces available. Parking cost us £8.40 for 6 hours however there was a cheaper option of £5.30 for 3 hours parking. This day out pairs nicely with a trip to the Scarborough Sea Life Centre.

When visiting, we walked down to the Chalet Cafe. We found the staff members friendly and we loved the added touch of blankets at each seat in the outdoor table area. We purchased two bacon and sausage baps, a packet of crisps and a small packet of biscuits for £10.50.

This beach allowed dogs during the winter months and had a seasonal ban between 1st May - 30th September.

There were also a few sets of toilets along the beach which included disabled toilets.

Overall, we would visit again if we were in the area. We were able to build sandcastles and we loved the fact there were other local attractions in walking distance, however we found the carpark quite highly priced. As a result, we have rated this beach 4 stars out of 5.
