We spent an hour and a half there including lunch. We easily could have spent around another hour if we played the mini golf.

At Sea Life there were a variety of animals/sea creatures including otters, penguins, seals, sharks and many other sea creatures. There is also a small outdoor play park area. While walking around there were many tanks including a tunnel style tank, pirate mini golf, an outdoor area to see the penguins at the top of the surface, an outdoor area to see the seals swimming around, a rainforest section and a gift shop.

Two of our favourite areas of the aquarium were the penguin and the seal area.
We were able to get really close to both the penguins and the seals. You could see them swimming around from the top of their enclosures and can go round the corner to see them swimming under the water.

There is plenty of parking available in a hard surface pay and display carpark next to the Sea Life Centre. The Scalby Mills Car Park, includes disabled spaces and coach spaces, but there were no child spaces available. Parking cost us £8.40 for 6 hours however there was a cheaper option of £5.30 for 3 hours parking. This day out pairs nicely with a trip to Scarborough North Bay beach.

While at Sea Life, you can get food in their onsite café. We purchased two children’s lunchboxes (adult sized sandwich, pom bear crisps, drink and either a piece of fruit or a chocolate bar), two bottled drinks and two ham and cheese toasties for £21.40. There were picnic tables located outside by the playpark to enjoy a picnic or you could sit on the beach after you finish at the attraction.

When we visited this attraction, our boys were 3 years old and 18 months old. We found this day out to be enjoyable, no matter your age.

We found one set of toilets by the entrance which included accessibility toilets and changing facilities. These toilets were clean and well stocked with toilet roll.

To travel between the floors, there are both stairs and a lift available. The attraction is well spaced leaving enough room for a pushchair to pass through.

Overall, we would visit again if we were in the area. When we saw staff, they seemed friendly and helpful. We loved being able to see the penguins and seals both under and on top of the water. However, the aquarium was not the biggest, we didn’t find their tanks the cleanest, there could have been more toilets and we found parking around the area quite expensive. Therefore, we have rated this day out 3 stars out of 5.
