Fort Nelson, Portsdown Hill Rd, Portchester, Fareham PO17 6AN.

When looking to visit Fort Nelson, tickets can be reserved online or you can enter on the day as long as there is not too many people at the site. Entry was free of charge however there was a £3 car parking fee.

Fort Nelson is open daily during school holiday and open Tuesday-Sunday during term times 10am-5pm.

We spent around 3 hours here. This included us eating lunch in their cafe.

At Fort Nelson there are many canons to view, tunnels to explore, galleries including interactive stations, a cafe and gift shop.

The boys loved finding out about all the canons and couldn't believe how many there were to view.

There is plenty of parking available in a gravel style carpark. Parking is paid at the entrance desk which is £3 per car.

While at Fort Nelson, you can either eat a picnic at one of their many picnic benches, or eat at their cafe. We decided to eat at their cafe as a child's lunch bag which included sandwiches, 2 snacks and a drink was £5.75 and an adults lunch bag which included a canned drink, sandwich or toastie and crips was £6.95.

When we visited, our eldest was 4 years old and our youngest was 2 1/2 years old. We found this day out had something for everyone, no matter your age.

We found 3 sets of toilets jotted around the site, including disabled and baby changing facilities.

Throughout the site there are a few sets of stairs and ramps. The flooring surface changed throughout the walkaround from paving to gravel to grass. Pushchair parking is available on site (using an onsite padlock).

Overall, we would happily drive to visit here again. We were shocked to find the food prices reasonable especially where the entrance was free. We also felt the level of interaction and education available was amazing for the boys and was not too overwhelming or boring for them, therefore we have rated this day out 5 stars out of 5.
