Conwy Castle is open daily to the public. Please check their website before visiting as their opening differs throughout the year, on average they are open 9:30am-5pm.

We spent around 2 1/2 hours there.

At Conwy Castle you are able to explore the castle in your own time which includes going up to the top of their towers and looking over the whole castle. There was a gift shop at the entrance of the castle and an additional gift shop with a tea room is next door.

Our favourite part was going to the top of the look out towers. The steps were narrow and spiralled up, just like how they would have been originally.

There is plenty of parking available in 2 nearby hard standing pay and display carparks. There is also disabled parking spaces available. We parked in the long stay carpark (Morfa Bach) for £6.70 which covers you for their daytime hours 8am-6pm.

While at Conwy Castle, you can stop for something to eat at their neighbouring tea room or sit at one of their few benches for a home packed lunch. There are also many cafes around the area offering food.

When we visited, our eldest was almost 4 years old and our youngest was 2 1/2 years old. We found this day out had something for everyone, no matter your age. However, this day out would not be suitable for someone needing to use a wheelchair as stairs are involved.

The toilets are located near the entrance. There are also public toilets around the local area.

We found the pathways wide and mostly flat, however there are many stairs involved both inside the castle to get up the towers and to get into the main castle area. Therefore, pushchairs and wheelchairs are not able to be used.

Overall, we would happily visit again if we were near the area. We loved being able to show the boys the history around the castle and for them to explore it in their own time. The only thing that let the castle down was due to them not having their own private carpark, therefore we have rated this day out 4.5 stars out of 5.
